Dedicated Hosting, Dedicated Server Hosting, Dedicated Web Hosting

What is Dedicated Hosting?

Dedicated hosting is simply a server located in a data center somewhere in which you have complete control over, and hence is “dedicated” only to you.  The data center will usually have network operations staff who will be able to assist you with some basic functions, such as resetting the server or upgrading hardware, firmware, operating systems and more; however, in general a web developer or system administrator is in charge of the server.
Dedicated Server Hosting
According to Wikipedia, dedicated hosting is “A dedicated hosting service, dedicated server, or managed hosting service is a type of Internet hosting in which the client leases an entire server not shared with anyone. This is more flexible than shared hosting, as organizations have full control over the server(s), including choice of operating system, hardware, etc. Server administration can usually be provided by the hosting company as an add-on service. In some cases a dedicated server can offer less overhead and a larger return on investment. Dedicated servers are most often housed in data centers, similar to colocation facilities, providing redundant power sources and HVAC systems. In contrast to colocation, the server hardware is owned by the provider and in some cases they will provide support for your operating system or applications.”

How much does dedicated hosting cost?
The dedicated hosting market is fairly competitive with an increased number of host providers and hosting resellers.  We’ve seen pricing as low as $30 per month, and as high as a $200 per month with varying level of quality, support, and uptime promises.  This dedicated hosting provider offers a dedicated server out of the box for about $75 per month with free setup.  Dedicated hosting should cost less than managed hosting, but may be more expensive than cloud hosting or other types of shared hosting arrangements.
